Yew Plants for Garden Hedge

I'm thinking about using yew plants to create a hedge in my garden. I’ve heard they can grow pretty tall and dense, which sounds perfect for privacy, but I’m not sure about their maintenance requirements or ideal growing conditions. Has anyone here had experience with them? Any tips on planting, pruning, or dealing with common issues? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I've worked with yews for hedge borders in my own garden. One thing to watch out for is their preference for well-drained soil; too much moisture can really stunt their growth. Also, while they grow densely, you'll need to prune them soon after the growing season—before the new shoots harden—to keep them looking neat without sacrificing too much of that dense cover. It's a bit of a balancing act, but if you get the conditions right, they can be pretty impressive for privacy.
