Has anyone here tried mixing Invincibelle Ruby hydrangea with native prairie plants, especially grasses? I just picked up my first Invincibelle Ruby because I loved the deep pink flowers and smaller size, but my garden is mostly native grasses like little bluestem and prairie dropseed. I’m tempted to tuck a few hydrangeas in among the grasses for a mix of texture and color, but I’m not sure how Invincibelle Ruby does with more sun/wind and less moisture, since prairie plantings aren’t really typical hydrangea habitat.
Has anyone grown Invincibelle Ruby in full sun or in more naturalistic, native plantings? How did it do? Any pictures or advice for getting it to thrive among grasses? I’d love to experiment, but would really appreciate a sanity check from experienced growers first!
